Una scabro bianco e nero e una musica ipnotica sono l'ambiente nel quale si inanellano le micro narrazioni di questo peripatetico spettacolo notturno a cavallo fra cinema, danza e teatro.
Illuminato dalla fredda luce di un video proiettore che scandisce spazi, tempi e geometrie, il nero profondo dei costumi rende diafani i personaggi e li proietta in un passato senza tempo abitato da un'umanità allo sbando che avanza e si dibatte con una gestualità brusca, emotiva e scomposta, oltre lo sfinimento e fino al limite della trance.
Il ritmo martellante della musica e del movimento trasporta poco a poco in una dimensione ipnotica e ad un'empatia quasi fisica con la fatica degli interpreti.
”In girum imus nocte et consumimur igni” , “Andiamo in giro la notte e siamo consumati dal fuoco”, enigmatico palindromo latino dalle origini incerte, che già fu scelto come titolo da Guy Debord per un famoso film del 1978, va così oltre la sua possibile interpretazione di metafora del vivere come infinito consumarsi nei desideri, per diventare un'esperienza catartica della sua, anche comica, grottesca fatica.

Castello è probabilmente da ritenersi il più ideologicamente impegnato e scomodo tra i coreografi che hanno fondato la danza contemporanea in Italia.
Nei primi anni ‘80 danza a Venezia nel “Teatro e danza La Fenice di Carolyn Carlson”, dove realizza le sue prime coreografie.
Nel 1984, è tra i fondatori di Sosta Palmizi.
Nel 1993 fonda ALDES.
Riceve svariati premi, tra cui il Premio UBU nel 1986 e nel 2003 (“Il Cortile”/“Il migliore dei mondi possibili”).
Dal 1996 è curatore di varie manifestazioni e rassegne e, dal 2005, è docente di coreografia digitale presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera a Milano.
Durante la sua carriera, collabora, tra gli altri, con Peter Greenaway, Eugène Durif, Rai3 / Fabio Fazio e Roberto Saviano, Studio Azzurro.

A rugged black and white and hypnotic music is the environment in which the micro stories of this peripatetic night show are linked together, a mixture between cinema, dance and theatre.
The cold light of a video projector articulates the spaces, times and geometry, and the black costumes turn the characters translucent, projecting them into a timeless past inhabited by a dispersed humanity that moves on, struggling, with a brusque, emotional, disorganized gestuality, beyond exhaustion, slowly falling into a trance.
The pulsing rithm of the music and movement carries one, little by little, to a dimension that is hypnotic, and an empathy that is close to being physical with the fatigue of the interpreters. ”In girum imus nocte et consumimur igni” ("We go around at night burnt up by fire"), enigmatic latin palindrome with uncertain origin, which was already chosen as title by Guy Debord for his famous movie in 1978, it therefore goes beyond its possible interpretation as a metaphor of living endlessly consumed in desires, to become a cathartic experience of its comical and grotesque exhaustion.

(Torino 1960) Dancer, choreographer, teacher.
Castello is probably the most ideologically engaged and politically controversial choreographer among the founders of Italian contemporary dance.
In the earliest ‘80s, he dances with Carolyn Carlson’s Teatro Danza la Fenice where he creates his first choreography.
In 1984 he’s one of the founders of Italian modern dance company Sosta Palmizi.
In 1993 he founds his new ensemble, ALDES.
Among the other prizes, he wins Ubu Prize in 1986 and 2003 (“Il Cortile” / “Il migliore dei mondi possibili”).
Since 1996 he has been curator for several festivals and art venues and since 2005 he has been teaching digital choreography at Accademia delle Belle Arti di Brera in Milan.
During his career, he collaborates, among the others, with Peter Greenaway, Eugène Durif, Rai3 / Fabio Fazio e Roberto Saviano, Studio Azzurro.
