Il Premio dell'Uomo in Piedi verrà attribuito in questa prima edizione a Erdem Gündüz, il giovane coreografo che l'ha ispirato con la sua celeberrima performance “Duran Adam” (L'uomo in piedi) realizzata a Istanbul nel giugno 2013 in piazza Taksim a seguito della violenta repressione della polizia.
Un premio che una giuria internazionale ad ogni edizione assegnerà all'artista internazionale di qualunque disciplina la cui opera meglio avrà saputo coniugare rigore formale con coraggio e impegno civile.
Il Premio, assegnato con il contributo della Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, è patrocinato da Regione Toscana, Comune e Provincia di Lucca.
DURAN ADAM (L'uomo in Piedi)
Un giorno, di ritorno da Smirne, Erdem è arrivato a Taksim, che era stata sgomberata il giorno prima con inusitata violenza dalla polizia. Pensando di dover fare qualcosa, mentre guardava il centro culturale AKM in piazza Taksim, due giorni prima coperto dagli striscioni dei manifestanti ed ora ripulito e adorno solo di bandiere turche ed un’effigie gigante di Ataturk, indignato e arrabbiato per mille ragioni (fra cui anche lo zelo con cui erano stati ripiantati i fiorellini nelle aiuole della piazza dopo poche ore dalle gasate micidiali “Quanto può un fiore essere fascista?” ci si chiedeva…), si è fermato con lo sguardo fisso sul “Padre della Patria”, cosciente che Taksim veniva ripresa da giorni e che qualcuno certamente si sarebbe accorto di lui prima o poi…
Standing Man Prize will be awarded in this first edition to Erdem Gündüz, the young choreographer who inspired it with his famous performance "Duran Adam" (Standing Man) Performed in Istanbul in June 2013 in the Taksim square following the violent police repression. An award by an international jury will be given in each edition to an international artist of any discipline whose work is better able to combine formal rigor with courage and civic commitment.
The prize, sponsored by Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, is supported by Regione Toscana, Comune di Lucca and provincia di Lucca.

One day, returning from Izmir, Erdem arrives in Taksim, which had been vacated the day before with exceptional violence by the police. Thinking of having to do something, as he looked at the cultural center AKM in Taksim Square, two days before covered by the banners of the protesters and now cleaned up and adorned only with Turkish flags and a giant effigy of Ataturk, indignant and angry for a thousand reasons (including the zeal with which the flowers had been re-planted in the flower beds of the square only a few hours after the deadly gasses "How can a flower be a fascist?" we wondered ...), he stopped and stared at the "Father of the Nation", conscious that, Taksim, having been filmed for days, someone would certainly notice him sooner or later...
